Active Solar

Active Solar systems are hardware installations that convert the sun's energy into electricity and hot water. Photovoltaic power systems convert sunlight into electricity. Solar thermal systems convert sunlight into stored hot water. Any home can use these systems as long as unobstructed sunshine hits the areas where they are installed. Many Silverwood home plans have southerly facing roof systems that will support this type of hardware. If it is not possible to install active systems on the roof, they may be ground mounted as well. When active solar technology is added to to a very tight building envelope, energy efficiency goes up! Add to that the fact that energy is being created without pollution, and and an energy efficient plan becomes a green plan. These systems are always optional in a Silverwood House Plan
